Checking how the regulators carry out their functions
Each year CHRE carries out a performance review which looks at how each regulator carries out its functions and their general performance against agreed standards. The reviews highlight good practice and identify issues that might benefit from a co-ordinated approach.
The Performance Review of Health Professional Regulators 2007/08 was published in August 2008, and a copy of the report can be found here. To see the pilot process adopted this year, please click here. The standards against which the regulators have assessed themselves this year can be found here.
In the case of the NMC, where this year we were asked by the Minister of State for Health Services to expedite our performance review, we have published a separate report. Please click here to see the report.
